Our Evolution

Since the 1970s, Park Pottery Findhorn has undergone numerous incarnations, each reflecting the changing needs and aspirations of our community. Initially serving as a platform for individual potters, our studio has embraced various operational models and philosophies over the decades. In the spring of 2019, a pivotal moment in our history, a dedicated team embarked on a mission to rejuvenate the then-empty studio. This marked the beginning of a new chapter, one that emphasises community involvement and sustainability over individual profit.

The Rebirth

Our transformation involved more than just a physical renovation of the space; it was a rebirth of purpose and spirit, achieved through the collective effort of friends, local artisans, and international supporters. Before securing our own kiln, we relied on the kindness of neighbouring studios and the generosity of potters from around the globe. Their contributions, ranging from donated work to essential equipment, laid the foundation for our reimagined pottery studio.

Navigating Challenges

The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic presented unforeseen challenges, testing our resilience and adaptability. The pandemic’s impact on our operations underscored the importance of community support, leading to innovative projects like the Phoenix mosaic. This initiative not only symbolised the Findhorn Foundation’s and our studio’s capacity for renewal but also deepened our connection to the community and our collective aspirations.
