Play with Clay
Discover the Joy of Pottery
At our studio, we invite you to immerse yourself in the world of pottery through our engaging ‘Play with Clay’ sessions. Held every Wednesday and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, these workshops are designed to offer a comprehensive and enjoyable introduction to the art of clay work for individuals of all skill levels.
Who Can Join?
Our ‘Play with Clay’ sessions are open to everyone with a passion for pottery, from those touching clay for the first time to experienced potters looking to dive into a community of like-minded individuals. ‘Play with Clay’ sessions are open to individuals aged 7 and up. Children between 7 and 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for a safe and enjoyable pottery experience.
What to Expect?
Participants will get hands-on experience with clay, learning the fundamental techniques of handbuilding. This method allows for the creation of pottery pieces without the use of a potter’s wheel, emphasising tactile connection and personal expression. Our experienced instructors guide you through the process, ensuring you learn effective techniques while exploring your artistic side.
Why Handbuilding?
Handbuilding is an accessible entry point into pottery that emphasises creativity and individual expression. It allows for a wide range of projects, from functional items like cups and bowls to decorative sculptures. Our sessions are structured to inspire confidence and creativity, enabling you to produce unique pieces that reflect your personal style.
Explore Your Creativity
Experienced potters are also encouraged to join our ‘Play with Clay’ sessions. It’s an excellent opportunity to experiment with new ideas, refine your skills, and share your knowledge with others in a collaborative setting. The studio becomes a place of mutual inspiration, where seasoned artists and newcomers alike can learn from each other.
Taking Your Creations Home
One of the joys of pottery is creating something tangible that you can bring home and use or display. At the end of the session, you’ll have the option to choose which pieces you’d like to fire in our kiln. The cost includes the firing of one piece up to 200g, with additional charges for larger pieces (40p per 100g wet clay – to be paid after the PwC session). This allows you to not just experience the process of making but also enjoy the fruits of your labour.
What is the cost?
The session is priced at £15 for adults, while attendees under 18 enjoy a 50% discount, making it more accessible for younger participants.
